 The Lincolnshire girls played a friendly match against a South of the County Lincolnshire boy’s team on Sunday 22 March 2009.

This match is designed as an ‘opening the season match’ to give the junior sides some early practice with a competitive edge.

We played 5 better ball matches off handicap at South Kyme Golf Club.

The matches were all keenly fought in difficult chilly, windy conditions and nearly all of the matches went to the 18^th hole.

The girl’s team beat the boys by 2 matches to 1 with the other two matches being halved.

Thanks goes to South Kyme Golf Club for giving us courtesy of the course on a Sunday afternoon and also for making us feel so welcome. Thanks also to all the parents for transporting the girls to the match on Mother’s day!

It really was a great win for such an inexperienced girl’s team. Well done girls!

Girls team – Captain Jessica Sheile (Kenwick Park GC), Vice Captain Kirsty Condon (Blankney GC), Becky Lynes (Lincoln GC), Charlotte Pilter (Cleethorpes GC), India Clyburn (Woodhall Spa GC), Harriet Wilson (Lincoln GC), Alex Smith (Immingham GC), Bethan Watson (Blankney GC), Hannah Vaughan (Burghley Park GC) and Nikita Walley(South Kyme GC).        

Lincolnshire juniors capped a fabulous year with a 3rd consecutive win in this prestigious Midlands event.  The competing counties were Cambs and Hunts, Staffordshire and Warwickshire and the result was finalised on the last putt of the last match on the 18th green, Becky Lynes getting the necessary half.  On the first day Lincolnshire lost to Staffordshire and roundly beat Cambridgeshire.  The following day they beat Warwickshire leaving Warks, Staffs and Lincs all on 4 points.  It came to a countbackof individual matches won, Lincolnshire just sneaking the vital extra half ahead of the other two counties.  The team were managed by Junior organiser Sue Over with support from  Assistant Junior organisers Yvonne Woodcock and Pat Jones.  Several  parents were there flying the flag for Lincolnshire and the County President, Captain and Vice-Captain were in attendance to lend support.
