First Team Victory v’s Yorkshire at Holme Hall

Lincolnshire played Yorkshire at Holme Hall yesterday in a season opening friendly match.  Ellie Haughton and Courtney Martland played singles and both battled hard with Ellie narrowly losing on the 17th against a plus four handicapper, and Courtney securing victory on the 18th after being one down with three to play.   Our top foursomes pairing of Izzy Haughton and Hattie Dow was up against it from the first hole, but Jade Baker and Emelia Roach led throughout their match and played brilliant solid golf to win on the 16th.  Bethany Gough and Neve Begley didn’t get off to a great start but despite being 5 down early on they battled back to all square after the 17th.  It really was a grandstand finish as Bethany holed a putt from off the green to take an unlikely victory and for Lincolnshire to achieve a rare win against Yorkshire.

Congratulations to the whole team and thanks to Holme hall for their hospitality.  All the

players talked about how good the greens were and I’m delighted that we could show off a fab Lincolnshire course to our Yorkshire neighbours.

Thanks as ever to all our supporters who enjoyed a cracking finale, and I hope to see everyone at the county championships at belton park in May.
